New Pandemic Assignment

                        New Virus Pandemic assignment

Who are the people involved in this scenario?
  •  The victims of the flood
  • the GET pilots
  • WHO(World Health Organization)
  • Researchers

Identify the key problems
·        A ribonucleic virus, dubbed the “Blue Nile”, have an array of flu-like symptoms such as, cough, fever, shortness of breath, headaches, body aches and diarrhea. Within two weeks many victims develop pneumonia and/or acute respiratory distress syndrome, which lead to difficulty in breathing and can result in organ failure.
·        Ironically, the not yet affected areas have a significant increase of medical facilities. Even though the virus has not even reached them yet. The affected area is lacking of medical facilities and is quite saddening.
·        There are not enough GET pilots available, and are currently not able to spread out their manpower to the two other problems: flood search and rescue and medivac transport
·        If the researchers carry out research and tests now, the virus may have already mutated after the 12-18month process, which only means they are developing the cure for now, but not for the future.

What are their roles?
·        The role of the victim is to survive and to provide tests for the researchers( if they caught the virus, they would be able to give a sample to the researchers), and to wait for further information on their rescue and aid for them.
·        The GET pilot’s job is to search and rescue, to evacuate and relocate victims and to be able to work with WHO to help the victims and to do their best
·        WHO is supposed to prioritize, to identify the problems and to react to the virus, checking on whether it has mutated or spread even more, then react to it and make the right decisions for the country. Such as to “find medication that may slow the virus”.
·        The researchers are the key people involved in this disaster. They have a tight schedule, trying to find a cure or just a medication to slow the virus, and all of these must happen fast, as for every minute or hour they delay, one by one the victims of the flood are dying.

Possible solutions for each problems
·        Switzerland’s patented anti-viral medication, Xifan, designed to treat severe cases of influenza is the temporary solution. It has proven partially effective as a prophylactic and as a treatment for those in early stages of the disease. Because Xifan is most effective when taken within 48 hours of the appearance of symptoms and Blue Nile is difficult to differentiate from the flu in its early stages, but doctors are hesitant to use the precious medication. WHO can contribute the money into the long process of developing a cure for the disease, but they caution it as the process of 12-18 months maybe too long.
·        More relief effort can be put to providing those affected areas with more medical facilities, and if all countries cooperate, this problem would soon be solved.
·        Other countries can contribute too with their GET pilots, and stop the suspense the flood search and rescue, but just to do both search and rescue and medivac transport after distributing manpower, which would help in the long run.

Pandemic english assigment

1. Who are the groups of people involved in the scenario?

  • World Health Organisation (WHO)
  • Red Cross
  • GET Pilots (Global Emergency Transport)
  • Researchers Of Switzerland
  • Victims Of Virus
2. What are their roles? (Elaborate)

  • WHO> The people research to find vaccinations on the pandemic wide spread.  WHO authorizes the vaccinations to the infected citizens of the country. WHO tried using 'Xifan' to slow down the virus but doctors are hesitant to use the previous medication.
  • Red Cross> The Red Cross Provide Search and rescue for the non-infected citizens. The Red Cross organization helps to evacuate them as well as to relocate them temporary shelters.
  • GET Pilots>Bring aid to Victims of Blue Nile. These people evacuate the non-infected citizens so that they may not contract the diseases of the infected.
  • Researchers Of Switzerland> The people research on the virus, as well as conduct experiments so that they may find a vaccination for the disease.
3. Identify 3 Key Problems
  • Pandemic: "Blue nile" virus (Infection rate increases).
  • Difficulty identifying who has contracted the virus
  • Difficult to find a cure for the virus
4. Think of 1 possible solution for each of the problems
  • WHO should call for a quarantine in the area of the virus so that the virus does spread anywhere else except the area. This helps to contain the infected in one spot so that the Red Cross can easily get aid to the infected and they would not be wandering finding for the infected.
  • WHO  should send a message across the nation, telling people to get aid if they aid if they have symptoms of the virus.
  • Recruit more scientist and researchers. Asked them to work longer,  extra pay. So that they can quickly find a cure.

1)Who are the people involved in this scenario?
  • GET-GLOBAL EMERGENCY TRANSPORT
  • THE FLOOD TRANSPORTERS
  • RESEARCHERS OF WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION
  • VICTIMS OF THE VIRUS
  • RESEARCHERS OF SWITZERLAND
 2)What are their roles?
  • GLOBAL EMERGENCY TRANSPORT-ITS ROLE IS TO WORK DIRECTLY WITH THE WHO AND THE RED CROSS TO RESPOND IMMEDIATELY YO NATURAL DISASTERS,PROVIDING SEARCH AND RESCUE,EVACUATION,AND RELOCATION FOR VICTIMS.
  • RESEARCHERS OF SWITZERLAND-THEY HAVE FOUND A ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATION CALLED XIFAN,DESIGNED TO TREAT SEVERE CASES OF INFLUENZA.
  • VICTIMS OF THE VIRUS-THEY INITIALLY SUFFER FROM AN ARRAY OF FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS:COUGH,HEADACHES,FEVER,SHORTNESS OF BREATH,BODY ACHES,AND DIARRHEA.WITHIN TWO WEEKS,MANY VICTIMS DEVELOP PNEUMONIA AND CAN RESULT IN ORGAN FAILURE.
  • FLOOD TRANSPORTERS-THEY HELP OUT AFTER THE FLOOD.THEY HAVE RESPONDED FOR CLEAN-UP AND RESCUE OF THE AFFECTED AREAS AND VICTIMS.
  • RESEARCHERS OF WHO-THEY WANT TO FIND MEDICATION THAT MAY SLOW THE VIRUS AND EVENTUALLY STOP THE VIRUS.
   3)IDENTIFY THE KEY PROBLEMS
I)THERE IS POOR SANIATION,CROWDED SHELTERS,AND MINIMAL HEALTH CARE WHICH HAS INCREASED THE SPREADING OF THE VIRUS.
II)OVER 300 FLOOD RESPONDERS,INCLUDING SEVERAL GET PILOTS SUFFERING FROM THE EFFECTS OF THE BLUE NILE VIRUS.
III)AS XIFAN IS MOST EFFECTIVE WHEN TAKEN WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE APPEARANCE OF SYMPTOMS AND BLUE NILE IS DIFFICULTTO DIFFERENTIATE FROM THE FLU IN ITS EARLY STAGES,DOCTORS ARE HESITANT TO USE THE PRECIOUS MEDICATION.

4)SOLUTIONS FOR EACH OF THE PROBLEMS
I)MORE DOCTORS SHOULD BE SENT TO THESE AFFECTED AREAS,MORE PEOPLE ARE ALSO NEEDED TO CONSTRUCT TEMPORARY HOMES FOR THIS VICTIMS TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEM OF POOR SANITATION,CROWDED SHELTERS AND MINIMAL HEALTHCARE.
II)THE FLOOD RESPONDERS AND GET PILOTS SHOULD BE VACCINATED FIRST BEFORE THE CHOOSE TO CONTINUE HELPING.
III)MORE MONEY,SCIENTISTS AND EFFORT CAN BE INVESTED IN A PROJECT FOR A VACCINE FOR THE VIRUS WHICH COULD SAVE MANY LIVES AND ALSO PREVENT A PANDEMIC.

New Virus pandemic English Assignment.

1) Who are the people involved in this scenario?
  •   Get- Global Emegency Transport
  •    Researchers of the WHO- World Health Organisation
  •    Researchers of  Switzerland who have came up with a prospective cure for the virus
  •   Victims of the virus.
  •   The flood responders
2) What are their roles?
  • Get- Global Emegency Transport, an organisation that specializes in providing search and rescue, evacuation and relocation for victims during disasters. However, due to the outbreak of the new virus, GET had suspended flood search and rescue to serve as medivac transport for virus patients to emergency medical shelters. Sadly, several GET pilots had contracted the virus and were hospitalized as they were also suffering from the effects of the virus.
  • Researchers of the WHO- World Health Organisation  are studying the virus, its spreading and causes, and to reduce the contraction rate of the virus by finding a vaccine or cure and to eventually stop the virus.
  • Researchers in Switzerland who have came up with a prospective cure for the virus. This precious medication is called Xifan. They did not wish to release the Xifan as it had a samllstockpile.
  • Victims of this virus had sufferd the most. They intially suffer from an array of flu-like such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, headaches, body aches and diarrhea. In two weeks, many would develop pneumonia and/or acute respiratory distress syndrome, which leads to difficulty inbreathing and can result in organ failure.
  • Flood responders are the people who helped out after the flood. An estimated 22,000 worldwide volunteers  have responded for clean-up and recue of the affected areas and victims.
3)Identify the key problems.
  • Flood responders and GET pilots are also becoming victims to the virus by helping the already infected victims and also by working in the virus affected areas.
  • Poor sanitation, crowded shelters. minimal health care has resulted in the increase of spreading of the virus.
  • Affected areas are facing shortages of health care amenities.
  • The Swiss are hesitant  in releasing the the medication. The cure is most effective when taken within 48 hours of the first symptoms. However, the first few symptoms are similar to a common flu's. There is a samll supply of the medication too, thus they do not want to release the medication for use.
4) Possible solutions for each of the problems.
  • To prevent more people from contracting the virus, the flood responders should be properly vaccinated once a vaccine has been created if they choose to continue helping.
  • Man power is needed to construct proper temporary shelters and health care amenities, doctors and more flood responders to help combat the porblem of poor sanitation, overcrowding in shelters and minmal health care.
  • More money can be invested in the research of a vaccine for the virus so that a vaccine may be created much faster to save more lives.

Blue Nile River Flood

Identify the different group of people in the case study.

The WHO ( Whole Health Organisation ) is mainly the group of people involved in this case study. The WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nation (UN) that acts as a coordinating authority on international public health. It is established on 7 April 1948. In this case of the Blue Nile River Flood , they are the group of people that find medication, provide medical needs and to reduce chances of viruses from spreading.

What are the roles of these group of people?

The WHO give guildline to countries that need medical support. In this Blue Nile Flood for example, they examine countries and provide medical aid to the victims in the country. They also check for cleaniness in the country and whether the country is devastated or severly destroyed. Apart from coordinating international effort to control outbreaks of infectious and contagious diseases such as SARS, TB, HIV and Malaria. The WHO also supports the development and distribution of safe and effective vaccines. In addition, WHO also carries out various health-related campaigns and conducts health research in communiable diseaes, non-communiable conditions and injuries. The World Health Organisation also conduct various data collection platforms such as the World Health Survey covering 308,000 respondant from 70 countries worldwide. Lastly, the WHO also calculated the total number of deaths in a country as well as worldwide.

Identify the problem faced by them

The virus from the Blue Nile River Flood spreads very quickly in Ethiopia. The researchers and scientist are hesitant to use precious medication because the appearance of symptons is different to differentiate from the flu in its early stages. Hence, it is very diffcult to predict who contacted the virus as the scientist are still unsure about this new virus. Meanwhile, the infection rate is quickly expanding in and beyond the still-dangerous flood zone. To make matter worse, in just a short period of time, the virus had already grown from epidemic to pandemic status. In these flood prone countries, people do not have proper shelter, food and water supply. The virus spread from air and contact via fecal matter, People suffered from poor sanitation, health care and poor living conditions and hence the virus tends to spread more quicky in these areas. There is still no vaccine for this virus and this will take time to make these vaccines. Within this period of time, more people are suffering out there without proper living conditions. As a result, the scientists need to work more quicky to produce a new vaccine to cure the virus.

Suggest/solution for each of the problem.

I suggest that we should donate money or conduct charity events to help the victims. The government should send more manpower of doctors, nurses and first aider to help the victims and also speed up the process. By sending more people, this reduces their burden and work that they need to carry out. With Singapore's specialised medical facilities and a variety of medicines, they would be able to save more lives and to decrease to the death rate in the country. We could buy food, provide water supplies and proper tentage or beds for the people to stay in. Hence, this will be able to help and provide medical support to those countries which were in danger.

pandemic flu GET pilots

1)The group of people are the GET pilots, the victims, the researchers at the World Health Organisation(WHO),and the people who have gotten into contact with dead animals.

2)The roles of the GET is that they were suffering from an unidentified ribonucleic acid virus dubbed the Blue Nile. There are patients who had flu-like symptoms.Within two weeks, they will have respiratory distress sypdrome. The researchers at WHO are trying to find vaccines for the virus. They are also trying to find a medication that will slow the virus down.

3)Some key problems are they will suffer from a variety of flu-like smyptoms and within two weeks, they will have difficulty breathing and can result in organ failure. This virus spread around the body very fast as in less than a month, the victim may die.The virus spread through the air and via contact with fecal matter. This is a key problem as there is poor sanitation, crowded shelters and minimal health care after athe flood. This can result in the virus spreading to many people at a faster rate due to the poor living conditions. The other problem is that there is no vaccines for the virus currently. The researchers at the WHO are still finding a way to make the vaccines.Until then, more peo[ple will die as there is no cure.

4)I think we can donate money in funding the people so that they can improve their living conditions which will minimise the number of people catching the virus. We can also donate money to the researchers so that they will be able to make sufficient vaccines to cater to the people.
