Identify the different group of people in the case study.
The WHO ( Whole Health Organisation ) is mainly the group of people involved in this case study. The WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nation (UN) that acts as a coordinating authority on international public health. It is established on 7 April 1948. In this case of the Blue Nile River Flood , they are the group of people that find medication, provide medical needs and to reduce chances of viruses from spreading.
What are the roles of these group of people?
The WHO give guildline to countries that need medical support. In this Blue Nile Flood for example, they examine countries and provide medical aid to the victims in the country. They also check for cleaniness in the country and whether the country is devastated or severly destroyed. Apart from coordinating international effort to control outbreaks of infectious and contagious diseases such as SARS, TB, HIV and Malaria. The WHO also supports the development and distribution of safe and effective vaccines. In addition, WHO also carries out various health-related campaigns and conducts health research in communiable diseaes, non-communiable conditions and injuries. The World Health Organisation also conduct various data collection platforms such as the World Health Survey covering 308,000 respondant from 70 countries worldwide. Lastly, the WHO also calculated the total number of deaths in a country as well as worldwide.
Identify the problem faced by them
The virus from the Blue Nile River Flood spreads very quickly in Ethiopia. The researchers and scientist are hesitant to use precious medication because the appearance of symptons is different to differentiate from the flu in its early stages. Hence, it is very diffcult to predict who contacted the virus as the scientist are still unsure about this new virus. Meanwhile, the infection rate is quickly expanding in and beyond the still-dangerous flood zone. To make matter worse, in just a short period of time, the virus had already grown from epidemic to pandemic status. In these flood prone countries, people do not have proper shelter, food and water supply. The virus spread from air and contact via fecal matter, People suffered from poor sanitation, health care and poor living conditions and hence the virus tends to spread more quicky in these areas. There is still no vaccine for this virus and this will take time to make these vaccines. Within this period of time, more people are suffering out there without proper living conditions. As a result, the scientists need to work more quicky to produce a new vaccine to cure the virus.
Suggest/solution for each of the problem.
I suggest that we should donate money or conduct charity events to help the victims. The government should send more manpower of doctors, nurses and first aider to help the victims and also speed up the process. By sending more people, this reduces their burden and work that they need to carry out. With Singapore's specialised medical facilities and a variety of medicines, they would be able to save more lives and to decrease to the death rate in the country. We could buy food, provide water supplies and proper tentage or beds for the people to stay in. Hence, this will be able to help and provide medical support to those countries which were in danger.
