Pros and Cons of Potong Pasir

Probably one of the least modern towns in Singapore, Potong Pasir comprises of a community filled with a hustle and bustle of activities that keeps the neighborhood alive and unique. Enriched with a heritage like no other, this special place has attributes, rather strong ones at the same time flaws which play a huge part in the atmosphere .

How many citizens can gaze outside the window and witness the magnificence of a river flowing? Well, ordinary residents who live in Potong Pasir do and receive the privilege of enjoying the beauty of the Kallang River, located just next to Saint Andrews Village, yet another gem to the community. Another plus point would be the opportunity to have such a prestigious batch of schools for youths in Potong Pasir to attend. It's unique way of bringing up boys is a special type of education and a rare chance to be under and the lucky folks of Potong Pasir enjoy the convenience of a school so near and at the same time, ever so special in it's way of teaching. Unlike many other places, the rich heritage of Potong Pasir is still very much in tact with the community and old provision shops and pet shops are still quite visible at the lobby of flats which are not in it's best form but safe to say, the residents are still gleaming with happy faces enjoying coffee and chatting with long-bonded friends and receiving their necessities from places less than a mile away.

Everything has its ups and downs, this is no exception. It is inevitable that a certain amount of noise is produced by schools every morning so this is where the dark side comes about. Housewives or even the retired seldom get out from slumberland at a time when the sun is hardly visible, however, the boisterous chaps from the schools seldom recognize this factor. A relatively large amount of noise is produced each morning due to assembly etc., and that is most of the time the rooster for those still fast asleep. This is probably one of the only negatives I see from the happy town of Potong Pasir. Transport is brilliant to and fro, daily necessities are easily accessible from most places.

To conclude, the positive side of this unique town covers up the minute flaws of the community. Potong Pasir is most definitely a fun and great place to live in.
